PASO ROBLES, San Luis Obispo County — October 27, 2026. Road construction on Paso Robles’ west side affects several neighborhood routes this fall. City officials report that the West Side Road Rehabilitation Project covers portions of 16th, 18th, 30th, 32nd and 36th streets, with paving, curb ramps, roadway-base work and new striping planned as part of a roughly $2 million contract.
What changed in October?
The city’s October 14 Public Works project update says crews had poured curbs and cross gutters on several streets, removed existing asphalt and prepared the roadway base on 16th and 18th streets. On 30th, 32nd and 36th streets, workers were progressing through similar ramp and gutter work ahead of surface reconstruction.
Next steps included paving on 16th and 18th streets and asphalt demolition and base preparation on other segments. The city listed full intersection closures at 16th/Oak and 32nd/Oak and forthcoming daytime restrictions at Vine/16th. Specific controls can change as contractors move to different blocks.
What is the funding source?
The municipality says construction is supported by local supplemental sales-tax measures J-20 and I-24. The investment is meant to improve pavement condition and accessibility, including curb ramps and sidewalks.
The city’s update anticipates overall completion in January 2027, subject to construction progress and weather. It is inaccurate to treat a projected completion date as proof every roadway has reopened or that all pavement is finished.
Information for drivers and property owners
Residents should follow temporary signs, observe no-parking restrictions, and allow time for detours or delivery access. Changes to pedestrian routes can matter for people using wheelchairs or other mobility aids; city notices should identify safe alternatives during curb and sidewalk work.
